David Holland

David is the owner and co-founder of MBAS.  He has over 30 years experience performing chemical and biological analyses.  He has also taught as an Adjunct Instructor at Hartnell Community College and Gavilan Community College.  His other certifications include Water Distribution Grade I and Water Treatment Operator Grade II.

Sara Sugarman

Sara started with MBAS in 2017. She handled the change from LabWorks to SampleMaster LIMS specifically in reporting.  She handles reporting, invoicing, and customer service while maintaining our QA/QC validation and our lab formatting using Access.

Trevor has over 15 years of experience working with POTWs (Publicly Owned Treatment Works) in regulatory compliance reporting and laboratory quality management. Currently serving as the President of the CWEA (California Water Environment Association) Monterey Bay Section, Trevor is responsible for overseeing all laboratory QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) requirements and ensuring TNI (The NELAC Institute) accreditation.

Cassidy started working for MBAS in October of 2023 after graduating from California State University, Monterey Bay with her B.S. in Marine Science. She is currently the primary analyst for all microbiological analyses and assists with several other tests including Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Surfactants, and many more.

Cody Roberts started working for MBAS in November 2021, after graduating with a B.S. in Marine Biology and minor is Statistics from California State University, Monterey Bay. Cody handles all sample receiving duties and is eager to assist our clients to ensure a positive customer experience.

Conor Zumbach

Conor started at MBAS November 2021 as an intern and one month later secured a full time position at MBAS. Conor performs regulatory and non-regulatory sample collection in the tri county area for the lab. He is the main contact for the shipment and receipt of samples, along with bottle orders. He also provides a courier service to clients throughout Monterey, Watsonville, Big Sur, Carmel, Salinas, King City, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, San Jose, Morgan Hill and Hollister. Shane Hall joined MBAS in March 2026, assisting with shipping samples to external labs, and retreiving samples from the Santa Cruz, Watsonville, and Monterey Areas.

Linda Brown

Linda is a contractor that has been working with MBAS for over 10 years and collects samples for the RWQCB Ag Waiver/Ag Order program and does sampling and sample pickups throughout Santa Cruz, San Benito, Monterey, and Santa Barbara counties. 

Tamami Pisano

Laboratory Data Analyst

Tamami has been with MBAS since 2019. She mainly handles reporting and invoicing; including review of data and QA/QC for precision and accuracy. Tamami reviews regulatory drinking water reporting requirements and oversees uploading in-house results to the state database using CLIP (California Laboratory Intake Portal).

Mickey started at MBAS in March 2026 as a Data Analyst after graduating from CSU, Monterey Bay in 2025. They focus on ensuring clients receive accurate and high quality data. Mickey also assists in mentoring our interns.

Miguel Rocha

Laboratory Analyst

Miguel started with MBAS in October of 2024. His main responsibilities include testing for TKN, ammonia, cyanide, and surfactants, as well as metals analysis via ICP-MS. Miguel graduated with his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of California, Davis and received his Grade 1 Laboratory Analyst certification in September of 2025.

Kalissa Rendon

Kalissa started working for MBAS as an intern in May 2023. Although new, Kalissa has risen to the job and now is primary analyst for many of the colorimetric and gravimetric analyses. Kalissa has an AA in Natural Sciences. Kalissa will be working to gain her CWEA Laboratory Analyst Grade I.

Harley Thompson

Harley joined Monterey Bay Analytical Services in December 2025 after graduating from California State University, Fresno. She previously worked at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, gaining experience in environmental testing and laboratory analysis. At MBAS, Harley supports laboratory operations to ensure efficient workflow and project completion. She is the primary analyst for pH, alkalinity, and conductivity, and assists with turbidity screening, chlorine residuals, and other routine testing.
