Irrigation Suitability

It is well known that salt content of water can have a major influence on crop growth and productivity as most plants can only tolerate a limited amount of salt in the soil and water.  Other ions, when present at high levels, can be toxic to plants as well.  Irrigation water quality can have a great influence on crop productivity even more so than soil fertility, hybrid selection, weed control, and other factors.

Understanding the quality of irrigation water can be vital to managing long-term productivity.  MBAS is proud to offer an Irrigation Suitability panel for this valuable resource.  With this panel:

  • Irrigation water quality is evaluated based upon total salt content, sodium, and specific ion toxicities
  • Analyses include: pH, alkalinity, bicarbonate, carbonate, conductivity, total dissolved solids, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, sodium, potassium, boron, chloride, sulfate, nitrate, Sodium Absorption Ratio (SAR) and adjusted SAR

MBAS also offers analyses for groundwater influence monitoring and testing of runoff water.
